CBD 101: What is CBD?

Three letters defined 2018: C-B-D.

In fact, a recent report from cannabis industry analysts, the Brightfield Group, found that the U.S. market for CBD products grew by more than 80% these past twelve months, generating about $591 million, and is a market that could reach $20 billion by 2020. CBD is booming and will continue to gain momentum leading into the new year. Let’s breakdown CBD 101.

However, if you’re still wondering what CBD is all about, we are here to help.

CBD (also known as Cannabidiol) is a natural compound found in cannabis. Cannabis contains 113 different cannabinoids; the most notable ones are THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD. THC and CBD share a nearly exact formula, but one critical difference in their molecular structure gives each compound unique medicinal properties. For instance, unlike THC, CBD isn’t psychoactive and won’t make you high. Instead when ingested, CBD not only combats the psychoactive effects of THC, but also relieves pain, reduces inflammation and beyond.

To fully understand the benefits of CBD, you need to be aware of how cannabinoids interact with the human body. Two kinds of cell receptors in our bodies, called CB1 and CB2, comprise the Endocannabinoid system. These cell receptors are are found throughout important systems like the digestive tract, central nervous system, cardiovascular system and immune system and are only activated by cannabinoids. Therefore, the human body naturally produces cannabinoids, called Endocannabinoids, to interact with the CB1 and CB2 cell receptors in order to regulate basic functions like mood, appetite, pain and sleep.

This is why CBD works so well in the human body! When you’re taking some of our drops, you’re giving your body the medicine it loves and deserves. You’ll also be happier because of it. CBD slows down the breakdown of the endocannabinoid, Anandamide, the “bliss molecule.” Basically, anandamide tells your brain relax and be stress free.

Ultimately, CBD shouldn’t scare you. This natural compound will make you feel better and has wonderful effects on your brain and body. To learn more about the perks of CBD,

What about Hemp Oil for Your Skin?

There are a lot of different applications of hemp extract – and specifically the primary compound CBD in it – on the market these days. Have you ever wondered how cannabinoids interact with your skin? Well, now you can experience it with our revitalizing body oil developed in partnership with Tata Harper.

When we set out to expand our topical category, it was essential that we found a partner that shared our values and had established expertise in this area. We went straight to the gold standard.

Enter, Tata Harper – a like-minded brand that takes our mission to the next level.  A pioneer in natural luxury skincare, Tata holds impeccable standards of efficacy, quality, and purity for her 100% natural products.

The founder, Tata Harper, has a similar backstory to ours. Like Hudson and Gabe, who turned away from traditional pharmaceuticals after traumatic back injuries, Tata abandoned conventional, synthetic skincare products after her stepfather’s cancer diagnosis. Each story represents a shift away from conventional western medicine that sometimes may be more harmful than good.

Whether rooted in medicine or skincare, each story ends the same: with healing and wholeness found within the power of plants and a desire to share this lifestyle with others.

The holistic body treatment has Tata’s Estate Grown Beauty Complex as a base, which delivers complete full-body restoration and rejuvenation through hydrating and restorative benefits.

The infusion of 800mg of full spectrum hemp oil, high in CBD can support reducing inflammation on the skin and in the body.

But hurry… we’ve only batched 150 bottles, and we know this won’t be around for long.

5 Benefits and Uses of CBD Oil

Curious why you’re seeing CBD everywhere? Think that it sounds too good to be true? Not sure how to use it?

We’re here to demystify why it’s better than the hype.

1. Manage Stress and Anxiety, Naturally:

A daily regimen with CBD reduces your body’s natural stress response and stress hormones (bye Cortisol!).

Like a thermostat, Plant People CBD kicks in right when you need it, bringing you back into balance and a comfortable state. CBD helps our bodies and brain access and reduce the breakdown of important chemicals that we produce like serotonin and anandamide (a.k.a the “bliss” molecule). The result is a life filled with more joy and relaxation… and  way less stress.

2. Reduce Pain and Inflammation:

Both sublingual (under the tongue) delivery and topical use, like with our Plant Balm, is highly effective for reducing chronic pain and inflammation. A 2015 studyconcluded that mice given topical CBD for arthritis had significantly less inflammation and pain signals after only four days without any side effects.

3. Improve Your Sleep:

Get your zzz 💤 and feel rejuvenated. Our Everyday+ capsule is an isolate blend with supporting magnesium! There are many ways in which CBD can support more restful and deeper sleep by reducing chronic pain, anxiety and other challenges that prevent us from a deep sleep. Further it can help reduce REM sleep disorder. REM paralyzes the body during sleep to prevent physical reaction to dreams.

4. Heal Without a Habit:

CBD is not addictive so keeping the same dose in your regiment is perfectly fine and encouraged. In fact, the more you use it, the better it works (pretty much the opposite of any addictive drug). Our bodies don’t build up a tolerance to the compound!

5. Achieve Clarity Not a High:

CBD is not psychoactive or psychotropic. Yes, it is derived from Cannabis, however it only contains trace amounts (or 0%) of the compound THC which is what has the altering effect. This means that it doesn’t get you high (or altered). Rather then getting you high, it heals, reducing stress, anxiety, pain and inflammation with complete mental clarity.
